Maureen Burke was born in Leicester, England, currently living in Dublin and working as an artist and teacher. She completed a BA (hons) in Fine Art at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dublin, followed by an MA in Public Cultural Theory, also at IADT. She is currently a PhD researcher with NCAD (education faculty) researching issues surrounding public engagement with art museum educational programs. Her research is specifically concerned with the significance of discourse generated by unrepresented audiences and their responses to authorized bodies of knowledge in the visual arts.

Maureen has exhibited over many years in various selected shows, both nationally and internationally. Her drawings and paintings employ the use of photography, observation and personal recollections as a vehicle for engaging with the uncertainties of half remembered experiences, the ambiguity of human visual engagements and the notion of how memory can recreate its own reality.
